During this in-person 3-day encaustic workshop you will be introduced to the encaustic process and the myriad of possibilities it holds, explore some of my favourite techniques and learn ways to incorporate these encaustic techniques into your work. You will be shown how to incorporate found and personal images into your work through collage and how to enhance your work with image transfer. Creating sumptuous surfaces and texture, exploring mark-making techniques, wax application and incising. Encaustics will open up new avenues for creating and developing new approaches to your work. Explore colour and creating depth through use of pigmented wax, glazing techniques, R&F pigment sticks and adding metallics.
We will also discuss ways that you can begin to incorporate encaustics into your work and studio. During the workshop we will discuss studio set up, tools of the trade and studio safety.
The possibilities are endless.
Supply list and resources will be sent upon registration. Participants may wish to bring additional items to further personalize their work.
The studio is professionally equipped with everything that you will need for your workshop including: heated palettes, variable heat guns, Iwatani torches, brushes, tools and any additional supplies required for your workshop. During your time in the workshop, you will have available a full range of R&F products including R&F heated palettes, encaustic medium, paints, gesso, Pigment Sticks and blending medium .
Most supplies are included for your workshop with the exception of boards, substrates or painting surfaces. Further details and additional class information will be sent upon registration.
Workshop size is limited. Payment is due at time of registration and confirms your space in workshop. Fees are non refundable, however, they may be applied towards a future workshop or artwork.
