You’ll be inspired by the beautiful surroundings in Victoria, British Columbia. In this 4-day, nature-inspired workshop, you’ll learn monotype printing techniques using leaves and other natural objects with R&F oil pigment sticks. You’ll be working on reusable gel printing plates that are easy to use and the images can be added as collage in your encaustic paintings. This method is the most painterly of printmaking techniques and without a press.
Taking photos as reference material from our inspiring location, you’ll learn the exciting ways to paint with wax! We’ll cover several techniques for collaging and embedding your prints into encaustic, as well as image transfer. We’ll include a variety of techniques such as incising, scraping and adding texture. These combined techniques will allow you to create dynamic nature-based compositions full of depth and translucency. You'll also learn how to use plant material as a stencil to create textured botanical paintings.
